Some gymnasts prefer to focus on just 2 elements of the artistic program namely Tumble and Vault. In the Welsh Region Tumble and Vault competitions are run by local clubs and schools.
A 20m sprint to the vaulting table followed by springing onto and off the hands and landing perfectly on the other side. Extra rotations at any point increase the difficulty.
Tumbling consists of a range of acrobatic moves which are linked together in a “tumbling run”. Examples of these moves include forward and backward rolls, round offs, cartwheels, handsprings, tucks, etc.
